Saix listened.
He just listened.
He listened to the pattering of the endless rain pelting against his bedroom window. He listened to the cracks of lightning and the rumbles of thunder. He felt the electricity boom in the pit of his stomach.
For a fleeting moment he wished he was the lightning—he wished he was free, like those sizzling streaks that shot through the sky. But just as soon as that wish came, it went. It was gone, pushed away and compressed behind a wall that he had built up inside of himself for years. Nothing ever got past that wall. No hopes, no dreams, nor wishes. Every bit of imagination was locked up in the back of his head; hidden and practically non-existent.
Key word: practically.
Like everyone, he dreamed and he wished and he hoped. He dreamed of the day he could go back to Radiant Garden and live the rest of his life as it was meant to be lived. He wished he could leave this horrid place for good. He hoped his heart would be returned to him.
But Saix refused to get his hopes up. He refused to start pondering things that were far out of his reach. He outright refused to be disappointed.
But disappointment was all he had.
